Days of Our Lives' Cherie Jimenez explained that she loves having Gabi in a blossoming relationship with JJ.
When Days of Our Lives’ Cherie Jimenez read the script where Gabi pointed a gun at EJ, she worried that her character would end up in jail. Fortunately for the actress, that didn’t happen. Now that her brother Rafe has been found alive and well and just missing his memory from the time he was kidnapped, Gabi can focus more on her own life. Jimenez thinks this is a good thing because it gives Gabi the chance to grow as a person.
They’re Starting Fresh
One of the things Jimenez opened up to Soap Opera Digest about was that when she first stepped into Gabi’s shoes, “I came into an existing relationship.” Camila Banus had previously played Gabi, and her iteration was in a relationship with Stefan (ex-Brandon Barash), establishing them as a tumultuous couple. When Jimenez’s Gabi was freed from prison, they continued clashing until things ended when Stefan’s mother Vivian (Louise Sorel) captured him and made it look like he dumped Gabi and left town.
All Gabi and Stefan did was complicate each other’s lives. But now, sparks are flying between Gabi and JJ (Casey Moss), and Jimenez explained that with Stefan, “I didn’t really have room to grow in it as I have with JJ and Gabi.” Gabi and JJ previously dated in 2015, but this romantic reunion seems new again. As Jimenez explained, “It’s allowed for me to start fresh and grow within a relationship, which is why I think people love Gabi and JJ so much.”

JJ Is a Good Guy
So, for the viewers, this romance between Gabi and JJ also seems brand new. Jimenez revealed how the fans are enjoying it because ” they’re seeing it flourish versus having somebody thrown into a relationship that existed that was already passionate before.” She admitted that she loves working with Moss but didn’t know if JJ and Gabi had actual chemistry until she saw it herself and felt it really worked.

Jimenez noted that many fans are worried that Gabi will break JJ’s heart because he’s not a power-mad-wheeler-and-dealer. He’s just simply a good guy. Her response to fan concern: “‘Don’t worry. I know that he’s a good one.’ I think that’s the difference with Gabi, too. She’s aware that JJ is a good guy.”
