Dr. Mirica "Mimi" Sanders put her skills to good use when joining the cast of Married to Medicine.
The psychiatrist signed onto the 11th season of the hit Bravo show as a "friend of" and quickly became the number one person for the women to go to when conflict arose.
Sanders speaks exclusively with Morning Honey about the mental fitness needed to take on reality television, bonding with the ladies and handling being a multi-hyphenate.
"Days after the reunion filmed, I was just like, 'Much respect to all of you guys because this is hard,'" she admits. "You do not know how hard it is until you're actually in it. Having the camera right on your face was some real pressure because they're really going to see our humanity. This is who I am. You really have to be at a point where you're like, 'Hey, I'm vulnerable. You've got to take me for who I am.' But you have to be okay with all types of criticism and judgment."
"It takes so much courage and confidence to go into this thing," the doctor notes. "You open yourself up to everything and you have to be strong at your core."
As for joining the tight-knit cast of dynamic women, Sanders fit right in. "I was surprised because all of the ladies were very welcoming," she admits. "They were very curious to try to get to know me and they always asked genuine questions."
"I consider myself very multi-faceted and well-rounded. So, I can see myself in all the ladies," Sanders adds. "I'm a professional woman. I'm a wife. I'm a mom, but I'm a younger doctor. I do like to go out and have fun, go on date night and enjoy myself when I'm not working."
Despite venturing into reality television, Sanders is still trying her best to juggle all of her endeavors. "I don't believe in balance at all. I believe in integration," she points out. "Not having that mom guilt, knowing that now my daughter gets to see me building something, especially with my husband. Those are the intangibles that I have to make sure that I know so that mom guilt doesn't creep in."
"It's really communicating with family," Sanders explains of how she attempts to tackle every new project. "It's being like, 'Okay, this is what we are doing and this is how we're going to move.' It's just getting everybody on the same page."
Married to Medicine Season 11 airs every Sunday at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo. Each episode will stream the next day on Peacock.
