Erin Lichy revealed that her newborn son’s first religious ceremony was a bittersweet day for her. In a video shared with fans, “The Real Housewives of New York City” star opened up about her son Jack’s bris, which marked the family’s first religious celebration since the death of her father, Eliahu Yitzhari.
According to Parents magzine, a bris is a traditional Jewish circumcision party that marks the circumcision of a baby boy on the eighth day after his birth.
On March 30, Lichy posted to Instagram to announce the arrival of her newborn son, Jack Hunter Lichy, her fourth child with her husband, Abe. The happy news came six months after Lichy shared a somber post in which she announced the death of her father, whom she described as her “best friend.”
Erin Lichy Posted a Video to Reveal Why the Bris Was Difficult for her
On March 31, Lichy posted to TikTok to give fans an update after her son’s celebratory ceremony.
“Yesterday the bris was beautiful,” the RHONY star told fans. “That being said, it was really a hard day for me. My dad was always the one to set up our brises. At least from the standpoint of the mohel.”
Lichy noted that her mom and her mother-in-law “really stepped in” to help with her third son’s celebration. “And Abe took full charge of the mohel, which is the rabbi,” she shared. “He found a great one and managed all that and then my brother stepped in and that was really nice. “
“Everyone was so amazing, but it was still really hard,” she added. “It made it so finite, and I’m struggling with it. My eyes are puffy this morning because I just couldn’t believe that I would look over and not see my dad. And I think what you learn with grief is that the big moments are really hard. Those are the really hard days.”
