Ex-Sabres Star Should Thrive With Oilers

This former Sabres forward should work well with the Oilers.

The Buffalo Sabres made a big decision before the start of free agency, buying out veteran winger Jeff Skinner. This allowed the 32-year-old to become a free agent, and he quickly found a new home with the Edmonton Oilers.

When thinking of destinations for Skinner, it is hard not to like the Oilers for him. The Markham, Ontario native is joining an outstanding club that will offer him several offensive weapons to work with, like Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, and Zach Hyman. With this, Skinner has the potential to thrive in Edmonton.

When looking at a specific spot in the Oilers' lineup, he could be a perfect addition to their top line with McDavid. With Skinner being a sniper, he could see his goal totals jump back up, playing on a line with the best player in the world. However, even if he ended up on a line with Draisaitl as his center, that would still be huge for the veteran.

Skinner also stands a great chance of being another key member of the Oilers' power play if signed because of his offensive skill. The Oilers are known for their excellent power-play unit, so Skinner should also benefit from this.

It will be very intriguing to see what kind of season Skinner puts up with the Oilers from here. It looks like a great match on paper, as he will have a wonderful opportunity to play with a great offense in Edmonton.
