Atlanta is hosting a plethora of potential depth.
The Atlanta Falcons may sneak an offensive pick into this year's NFL Draft, after all.
Over the past few days, the Falcons have been hosting players from all parts of the country, some in person, and some virtually. Most recently, they have hosted Auburn Tigers running back Jarquez Hunter.
Hunter is a running back who has demonstrated loyalty to his program over the last four seasons, a trait that is increasingly rare in today's world of NIL within the college ranks.
Atlanta may not appear to need a running back given their current situation with Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier on the roster. However, it's never a negative to have depth at that position, given the historical injury data that often accompanies it.
Atlanta may consider selecting a player like Hunter in the middle rounds of the draft, or by adding an extra pick in between, because they only have five picks in this year's draft. They are currently without a 3rd, 5th, and 6th round pick.
In his senior year at Auburn, Hunter rushed for just over 1,200 yards and scored 8 touchdowns. Any back with those numbers in the SEC would be a great asset to have in the mid-to-late rounds.
Having a good-quality third back would alleviate some of the carries expected between Robinson and Allgeier, and could also provide a spark on special teams.
Hunter would catch the eye of many scouts back in October when running wild on Kentucky with 23 carries for 278 yards. He would also have 2 touchdowns in the game. Chances are, Atlanta will not leave Green Bay only having chosen five players in the draft. Expect the Falcons to stack a few picks while adding an offensive weapon such as Jarquez Hunter.
