‘Fire Country’ Is Setting Up Gabriela’s Most Intense Storyline Yet

With its two-part finale set to air later this week, the third season of Fire Country is moving towards a suspenseful conclusion. Jake (Jordan Calloway) has just decided to leave Station 42 for a promotion at another station. Although Sharon (Diane Farr), Bode (Max Thieriot), Manny (Kevin Alejandro), and Renée (Constance Zimmer) have just had a brief victory over Oxalta, it seems like the other shoe is going to drop soon. With all of this ahead, though, the person in the most dangerous situation right now is Gabriela (Stephanie Arcila).

Gabriela's romance with Finn (Blake Lee) started out as just a seemingly forced storyline that could have just been a plot device towards getting Bode and Gabriela back together. Over the course of Finn's time on the show, though, it has become clear that this character is not just unsettling, but dangerous as well. Last week's episode of Fire Country showed Finn being controlling towards Gabriela, while this week's episode explicitly shows him crossing a number of frightening lines. As Fire Country moves into its Season 3 finale, it is setting up Gabriela's most intense storyline so far.

In 'Fire Country's Latest Episode, Finn Is Exposed as a Stalker and an Arsonist

In last week's episode of Fire Country, Gabriela started to pull away from Finn after he made a comment about their future wedding right after their first kiss. Instead of trying to talk this out with her, Finn immediately started inundating her with aggressive and controlling texts. This week's episode of Fire Country reveals that Gabriela has since blocked Finn's number and believes that he is done with her as well. In a strange coincidence, Station 42 tends to a fire that just so happens to be at Finn's house. Jake and Audrey (Leven Rambin) soon learn that this wasn't a coincidence at all, and that Finn actually started the fire in his own house so that he could get back into Gabriela's life.

Once alone in the ambulance with Gabriela, Finn gives her a fake apology, and then brings up their kiss. For a moment, it seems like Gabriela might give him a second chance. Elsewhere, though, Jake and Audrey have also found dozens of pictures of Gabriela in Finn's dark room. The most recent ones are from that morning, and they prove that he has been stalking her ever since she ended things with him. When Vince (Billy Burke) insists on stopping the ambulance, Finn tries to fight this and even holds a scalpel to his own neck. He pleads with Gabriela, trying to get her to see him starting the fire for her as romantic. The ambulance finally stops, and Gabriela gets out, but so does Finn.

The Signs Were Always There With Finn Since His 'Fire Country' Introduction

The second half of Fire Country's third season has put a great deal of detail into building up its more suspenseful plotlines, both with Oxalta and Finn. Thus, Finn's scary turn didn't come out of nowhere. He was first introduced on a call while breaking into his neighbor's (Brenda Matthews) apartment, allegedly to check on her for signs of life. He then showed up at the firehouse multiple times to see Gabriela, and even wound up at Smokey's one night, due to what he claimed was probably just fate. He continued to come on way too strong with Gabriela, even though they were never even an official couple.

A major red flag was when Finn bought Gabriela a brand-new cellphone while they were still getting to know each other, which Bode agreed was strange when Gabriela told him about it. Finn's behavior has certainly been escalating over the past two episodes, but the signs were always there, and there has been something especially frightening about him from the beginning. Now, going into the season finale, Finn is on the run with a scalpel as a weapon, and his only goals seem to be to stay close to Gabriela and to avoid getting arrested.

Gabriela May Have To Kill Finn in 'Fire Country's Season 3 Finale

Early on in her introduction at the start of Fire Country, it was revealed that Gabriela owned a gun, and that she often carried it on her to protect herself. In fact, she was carrying it the night that she and Bode first met. When Gabriela talks to Manny about everything that happened with Finn at the end of this week's episode, he expresses his concern for her, but she tells him that she can protect herself. This is when Fire Country introduces a literal Chekhov's gun into the season, as Manny checks with Gabriela to make sure that she still has her gun.

There is no doubt that Gabriela will get out of this alive, but it seems very likely that she will end up having to kill Finn to protect either herself or someone she cares about. Fire Country has been building up to finally addressing Bode and Gabriela's relationship again in the season finale, so it's possible that these two characters will be the ones confronting Finn, especially if Finn is jealous of Gabriela's past with Bode. The most likely scenario is that Gabriela will kill Finn, although Fire Country might take an even darker route, and have Bode kill Finn and get sent back to Three Rock. Finn is not getting out of this alive, though, and the guilt will likely play a large role in Gabriela's storyline in Season 4.
