Flyers Forward's Trade Market Picking Up

The Philadelphia Flyers got their selling started late last month, trading Morgan Frost and Joel Farabee to the Calgary Flames in exchange for Andrei Kuzmenko, Jakob Pelletier, a 2025 second-round pick, and a 2028 seventh-round pick. However, it seems possible that they might not be done making moves just yet.

According to Daily Faceoff's Anthony Di Marco, trade talks centering around Flyers forward Scott Laughton have picked up. In addition, he specifically mentioned the Toronto Maple Leafs and Winnipeg Jets as among the suitors.

"Sounds like trade talks are heating up around Flyers center Scott Laughton," Di Marco shared on X. "Sources indicate Leafs and Jets are two of the teams who have shown the most interest, but a handful of teams are in the mix.”

This is not the first time Laughton has been linked to the Maple Leafs this season, and their interest in him makes sense. They have been looking for a third-line center, and Laughton would significantly fill that need.

When looking at Winnipeg's roster, it is also understandable that they are reportedly interested in Laughton. The Flyers alternate captain would give them an upgrade over Rasmus Kupari for their 3C spot. In addition, Laughton has zero trade protection.

Laughton, 30, has a $3 million cap hit until the end of the 2025-26 season. Thus, he would be more than a rental if acquired by another club, adding to his appeal.

Laughton is precisely the kind of forward that playoff teams love to have. This is because he chips in offensively, kills penalties, and provides plenty of grit. In 54 games this season with the Flyers, he has 11 goals, 26 points, and 113 hits.

It will be very interesting to see what the Flyers decide to do with Laughton from here. He is a big part of their core, so any potential trade centering around him would be significant.
