While star Philadelphia Flyers forward Matvei Michkov has been careful about speaking about his individual goals and aspirations, one target for the 2025-26 season should make everyone excited despite being vague in nature.

Michkov, 20, is hoping to become one thing for the Flyers: more reliable on a consistent basis, scoring goals and creating chances for his teammates.

"There were ups and downs. My job is to spend the next season in one breath, preferably without falls, so that there are no such long streaks in which you could not score points as you did in the first season," Michkov told TASS of his rookie season and aim for next year.

And, anyone who watched the Flyers last season knew Michkov had an eye for the spectacular and loved to play with flair.

A few lacrosse attempts, or "Michigans," never quite came off for the Russian sensation despite a few close calls at times.

Despite saying otherwise in jest, Michkov confirmed to TASS that the Michigan is still in the cards... so long as it's a legitimate scoring chance.

"If there is a situation, I will try. But I don't promise I'll score," said Michkov.

The 20-year-old's new teammate, Trevor Zegras, is the de facto maestro of the scoring maneuver, at least at the NHL level.

Zegras has tucked a few of them before, and perhaps Michkov can pick up on a few tricks or details from the big Flyers trade acquisition at some point this offseason.

These two tricksters will be a handful for NHL defenses next year, particularly if they end up paired together on a line, but we shouldn't put the cart before the horse.

For now, Michkov is just worried about being more consistent for the Flyers.
