Last week, Daily Faceoff's Anthony Di Marco reported that Philadelphia Flyers goalie prospect Alexei Kolosov is not expected to report to the club's training camp. This was not a particularly surprising development, as there have been rumblings all offseason that Kolosov is unhappy with the Flyers organization and hopes to play in the KHL.

Because of this, Kolosov has naturally created some chatter as a potential trade candidate. In a recent article for The Hockey News Predators, Rob Couch argued that the Nashville Predators must show interest in Kolosov if the Flyers officially make him available for trade.

Couch noted that after trading former top prospect Yaroslav Askarov, the Predators need a new young goalie with NHL upside in their system. While Kolosov does not have the same ceiling as Askarov, the prospect of him becoming at least a potential NHL backup later down the road should not be ruled out. Thus, he could be a decent target for Nashville if made available.

The Flyers could also consider the Predators an ideal trading partner if they ever opted to shop Kolosov. The Predators have several interesting prospects who could be nice fits for a rebuilding club like the Flyers.

It will be interesting to see if the Predators show interest in Kolosov. After dealing Askarov to the San Jose Sharks this summer, it is no secret that they could use a young goalie with promise in their system.
