Flyers Reрortedly 'Intrіgued' by Pаіr of Senаtors Centers

The Senators could be looking to make a move due to their own early-season struggles, hence why the Flyers are reportedly interested in Greig's services. The 22-year-old forward is a former 2020 first-rounder who's shown glimpses of potential with 17 goals and 42 points in 18 games. 

That's without mentioning how his 51.5 percent faceoff percentage this season is the best mark of his young career. 

While Greig could help solve the Flyers' center issues, acquiring him appears to be unlikely. 

"Much like the prior regime in Ottawa, the Senators don’t seem to have an appetite to move on from Greig," Di Marco added. 

If a deal for Greig is off the table, Di Marco also reports that the Flyers are allegedly interested in fellow Senators center Shane Pinto. At the same time, it isn't guaranteed that Ottawa would be interested in moving on from the right-handed faceoff expert.

"I believe the Flyers have checked in on (Pinto) in the past but, much like with Greig, I don’t get the sense that GM Steve Staios is entertaining moving on from him," Di Marco wrote. 

Pinto, 22, was drafted 32nd overall by the Senators in 2019 and has gone on to amass 31 goals and 73 points in 153 games with the franchise. Even though he missed 41 games last season after violating the NHL's gambling policy, it's evident that Ottawa still sees the Franklin Square, New York native as an important part of their future. 

For now, it doesn't look like a Flyers-Senators trade will happen any time soon. That could quickly change, though, if Philadelphia's center-related issues persist and Ottawa struggles to make ground in the playoff race. 

In the meantime, the Flyers will see if any of their current centers' performance improves when they visit the Nashville Predators on Wednesday.
