The Philadelphia Flyers are suddenly enjoying some success since parting ways with former head coach John Tortorella.
The Flyers fired Tortorella last week after a 7-2 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Flyers were on a six-game losing skid at the time of Tortorella's firing, but since then, they have gone 3-0. In their most recent outing, the Flyers defeated the Nashville Predators at home on Monday, 2-1.
Among the chief reasons behind the Flyers' win streak is the play on the ice of right wing Matvei Michkov, who had a pair of assists in the Nashville game.
With his assist on a Ryan Poehling goal in the second period against the Preds, Michkov managed to extend his point streak to six games, as noted by the Flyers via X.

The 20-year-old Michkov added another helper when he assisted on Jamie Drysdale's game-winning goal later in the second frame.
Over his last six outings, Michkov has collected four goals and seven assists for 11 points. So far in the 2024-25 NHL season, the rookie forward has 24 goals and 34 assists for 58 points.
Michkov and the Flyers are mathematically still in the hunt for a spot in the 2025 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs, as they are six points behind for the last wild-card ticket in the Eastern Conference. However, Philadelphia only has six games left on its schedule.
In any case, Michkov is simply trying to show up in his best form each game, as the Flyers look to finish the regular season strong with interim head coach Brad Shaw at the helm.
"It's the end of a season and there's a long, long break," Michkov said via a translator (h/t Jordan Hall of NBC Sports Philadelphia). "I'm trying to get every single moment, seize every single moment on the ice."
Next up for the Flyers is a date with the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday at Bell Centre in Montreal.
