The Oilers are putting Corey Perry back in for Game 4 as it appears as the former Blackhawk's season isn't over just yet.
It appears that veteran Corey Perry is going to be playing in Game 4 of the Western Conference Final against the Dallas Stars after sitting out four games.
Perry hasn't played since Game 6 versus the Vancouver Canucks and he only played 7:11 that game. He wasn't performing like he can and wasn't being effective. There was just one instance where he was demonstrating why the Edmonton Oilers signed him for a playoff run, and that was when he was trying to intimidate or incite something by holding his stick up to Brock Boeser's face.
The 39-year-old Perry has no points in 10 playoff games for the Oilers and he didn't just completely lose his game. He scored eight goals and 13 points in 38 games for the Oilers this season after the Chicago Blackhawks terminated his contract. Over his last four playoff runs (three of them his team went to the Stanley Cup Final), Perry scored 17 goals and 35 points in 78 games.
We all know Perry can still produce and get under the opponent's skin. He has demonstrated that this season. Before getting taken out of the lineup for Sam Carrick in the second round, Perry was demoted down the lineup because he just couldn't produce and the third line wasn't working.
At the Oilers' morning skate, Perry, along with Philip Broberg and Ryan McLeod were off the ice early while Warren Foegele, Vincent Desharnais, and Carrick all stayed out there longer. That is an indication as to who isn't playing in the game that night.
Perry has to make a difference in the Oilers' run and after sitting for four games, he should have a fire lit under him and play like he typically does. It is likely he's on the fourth line for most of the game. It seems as though his career and season aren't ending with him watching on from the press box just yet.
