Former Bruins Star Could Miss Entire Season

This former Bruins defenseman's season is in jeopardy.

The St. Louis Blues have announced that former Boston Bruins defenseman Torey Krug has been diagnosed with pre-arthritic changes in his left ankle.

The Blues also added that Krug will be re-evaluated in six to eight weeks and, if surgery is needed, he will miss the entirety of the 2024-25 season. In addition, the Blues shared that Krug's injury "is a cumulative result of a bone fracture suffered earlier in his playing career."

Krug, 33, appeared in 77 games last season with the Blues, posting four goals and 39 points. Overall, it was another solid offensive campaign for the Livonia, Michigan native. Thus, if he ends up being forced to miss all of next season, they will surely miss his offense on their blueline.

Torey Krug

Krug spent the first nine seasons of his NHL career as a Bruin and was a very impactful offensive defenseman for the club. In 523 games with the Bruins, he posted 67 goals, 270 assists, 337 points, and a plus-23 rating. His tenure in Boston ended when he inked his current seven-year, $45.5 million contract with the Blues during the 2020 NHL Offseason.
