Former executive makes bold claim about Jordan Love for 2025 season

As Green Bay Packers QB Jordan Love enters his third season as a starter, he will look to put an injury-plagued 2024 season behind him.

Love suffered an MCL sprain in his left knee during the team's Week 1 opener against the Philadelphia Eagles last season, which caused him to miss two games. He also dealt with a groin injury in Week 8 and injured his right elbow in the regular-season finale against the Chicago Bears.

While Love did not have the season many expected him to in Year 2, the rash of injuries certainly did not help. Former executive and current analyst Mike Tannenbaum made an appearance on Monday's edition of ESPN's "Get Up" and seemed confident in Love's ability for the upcoming season.

"Jordan Love will win the MVP (this season)," Tannenbaum said. ..."You take away three or four throws from last year, he was right there. I love (first-round draft pick) Matthew Golden. He was my favorite receiver in the draft last year. Great route-runner, great hands. You put him around Dontayvion Wicks, Jayden Reed, everybody else, this team will score and score often. A little concerned about the secondary, but they should be explosive on offense. This is Jordan Love's year."

Love took a step back in every major statistical category last season. His biggest issue was turnovers, accounting for 11 interceptions. The giveaways were compounded during Green Bay's wild-card loss to the Eagles when Love had three interceptions.

One key area for him in 2024 was sacks. In 2024, he was sacked 30 times and could not find enough time in the pocket to run the offense. Last season, that number dropped to 14, which was a huge benefit for a player dealing with multiple injuries at the time.

According to TeamRankings, Love had a touchdown percentage of 5.5 percent in 2024, which was seventh-best in the league. The turnovers may have been a little high, but it is hard to ignore Love's ability to find the end zone on a consistent basis.

After all, he has thrown 57 TD passes in his two seasons as a starter. He is tied for fifth with Josh Allen during that span, only trailing Baker Mayfield (69), Jared Goff (67), Lamar Jackson (65) and Joe Burrow (58), per StatMuse.

That goes to show what Love is capable of, and most of that occurred while he was dealing with injuries last season. If he can stay healthy and gets time to operate in the pocket, this could be a breakout season for Love.
