Former Saints quarterback makes bold claim about rookie Tyler Shough before he plays a single snap for New Orleans

The New Orleans Saints have plenty of unknown heading into next season. Their quarterback situation, new coaching staff, and an aging roster all will play a role in the team's expectations next season.

Rookie quarterback Tyler Shough is catching plenty of headlines as a potential long-term answer for the black and gold. A former Saints QB discussed Shough with Dianna Russini recently.

Chase Daniel has bold take about Saints QB Tyler Shough

Who is Tyler Shough? Meet the 2025 NFL Draft's 25-year-old QB - Yahoo Sports

Chase Daniel named rookie QB Tyler Shough as a player he's really interested to see right out of the gates for New Orleans. Daniel was with the Saints from 2009-2012 and in 2017. Daniel was a journeyman backup in the NFL, with seven different squads throughout his pro career.

"Sounds crazy a little bit - but he's going to probably have to play right away. You can win the division... The Saints have a good team. They have a good roster." -- Chase Daniel

The former Saints backup QB also mentioned that New Orleans has a new head coach and offensive weapons as well. That plays a big part into the upside of Shough. He needs Alvin Kamara and Chris Olave to perform and stay available.

For Kellen Moore, he has all of the pressures and bright lights of showing that he has potential as the head man for an NFL team. He's got plenty of fans around the league, and his selection of Shough was a first major domino to fall in his plan to get New Orleans back on track.

Only time will tell if Shough wins the job for the Saints. He will battle with fellow young QB Spencer Rattler for that role, and Derek Carr could also factor in to that decision. Although, that's a whole other muddy situation within the Saints organization.

Let's see if Shough can put on the show that Daniel is hoping for in Kellen Moore's offense as a rookie.
