Television in 2024 has been one for the ages.

From Richard Gadd's award-winning Netflix series Baby Reindeer to Jake Gyllenhaal in Apple TV's Presumed Innocent, and Adam Brody and Kristen Bell in the wildly popular rom com Nobody Wants This, viewers have been kept on the edge of their seats all year.

But fear not, as 2025 is promising to deliver even more binge-worthy content to get pulled into.

Over the next 12 months, TV fanatics will finally see many of their favorite shows return, including HBO hits The Last of Us and The White Lotus.

They'll also see Robert De Niro make his television show debut after six-decade long career on the big screen.

It will, however, also be time to say farewell to the beloved sci-fi series Stranger Things after nine years, and dystopian drama The Handmaid's Tale after eight years.

Let's take a look at all the exciting TV shows scheduled for the year ahead.

The White Lotus season 3

The hotly anticipated third season of Mike White's acclaimed comedy drama The White Lotus is back in just a matter of weeks.

The latest installment of the Emmy-winning drama will follow a group of high-flying tourists holidaying in luxury in Thailand.

Teasing what's in store, Mike said: 'The first season kind of highlighted money, and then the second season is sex.

'I think the third season would be maybe a satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality.

'It feels like it could be a rich tapestry to do another round at White Lotus.'

And fleshing out the dramatic storyline is a stellar cast including Leslie Bibb, Carrie Coon, Walton Goggins and Sarah Catherine Hook.

Lalisa Manobal, Michelle Monaghan will also star as will Sam Nivola, Lek Patravadi, Parker Posey, Patrick Schwarzenegger and Tayme Thapthimthong.

Harry Potter's Jason Isaacs will star as a wealthy businessman vacationing with his wife and three children while Sex Education's Aimee Lou Wood will play a free-spirit, traveling with her on-edge older boyfriend Rick.

The White Lotus season 3 begins Sunday, February 16 at 9pm ET/PT on HBO and will be available to stream on Max

The Last of Us season 2

Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey will be returning as Joel and Ellie in The Last of Us season 2, which is set for release this year.

The post-apocalyptic drama was a colossal hit for HBO when it debuted in 2023, and fans have been eagerly awaiting the next chapter.

In May, the network shared a first look at the new episodes, showing both Joel and Ellie in different scenes.

While not much is known yet about what is in store plot wise, it has been confirmed that comedy actress Catherine O'Hara has joined the cast.

An exact release date for The Last of Us season 2 is yet to be announced

Zero Day

Robert De Niro is set to make his television debut in 2025 in the upcoming limited Netflix series Zero Day.

In the series, the Hollywood titan plays respected former US President George Mullen, who, as head of the Zero Day Commission, is charged with finding the perpetrators of a devastating cyberattack that caused chaos and thousands of fatalities across the country

'Disinformation runs rampant and the personal ambitions of power brokers in technology, Wall Street, and government collide,' the synopsis teases.

'Mullen's unwavering search for the truth forces him to confront his own dark secrets while risking all he holds dear.'

De Niro will helm the thriller alongside a star-studded cast that includes Angela Bassett and Jessie Plemons.

Zero Day will premiere on Thursday, February 20 on Netflix
