General Hospital fans said a long, drawn-out goodbye to Lucky. Make that Lucky took his sweet time saying goodbye to Port Charles and his family! However, the real action was in the courtroom, where the judge made her shocking decision regarding custody of Michael and Willow’s children. It looks like one character the fans never really warmed up to is on their way out, while another fan favorite returned. Then there is Kristina, who caused viewers to groan at her latest bright idea. Let’s discuss!
Drew’s Big Sacrifice?
After losing in court spectacularly, Drew went to seek Martin’s help. Oh, welcome back, Martin, you’ve been missed! Even he couldn’t pull off the miracle Drew was hoping for to get Willow her kids back after she and loverboy spat all over Michael’s rights as a father and tried to paint the guy recovering from burns as a deadbeat dad. That’s what hiring Ric gets ya! Well, to be fair to Ric… Wait, did I say that? Drew did pitch most of Ric’s strategy to the shady lawyer.
Drew concluded that if he gave Michael what he wanted and exited Willow’s life, perhaps Michael would allow his estranged wife to have contact with her kids. Wait, are we supposed to believe that Drew will do something selfless now after all he’s done? Given that he talked to Jason about proposing his solution to Michael at the end of Friday’s episode, and the preview for next week has Jason berating him, I’m guessing Drew’s selfless act will disappear just like his integrity has.

I thought for sure this had to be the week that the truth about Drew’s involvement in Willow’s failed trip to Germany would come out after she brought it up on the stand, but it went nowhere. Come on, writers! We want to see Drew’s dirty deed exposed and watch him go down in flames. We don’t want him sacrificing his happiness for Willow because he loves her so much, especially not after using Wiley the way he did! Punish Drew, please!
As for Willow, her breakdown after losing her kids was epic, and to be honest, a mental-health vacation at Shadybrook might not be a bad thing. She needs some deprogramming from Drew’s brainwashing. Viewers are still theorizing that somehow Drew is Shiloh back from the dead. Portia telling Kai how much Drew changed after he got out of prison only furthered the speculation that Drew isn’t Drew.

However, Drew’s sacrificial act on Friday was un-Shiloh-like and more like the old Drew. Even if they tried to redeem Drew, it still doesn’t help Willow’s case. She threw everything away for this man. Even on the stand, when Diane asked if being with Drew meant more to her than her kids, she avoided the question and said she shouldn’t have to choose. That begs the question: Are either of these characters redeemable?
Pondering the Rest of the Week
I don’t think there is much to say about Lucky’s departure that I didn’t say last week when I ranted about how disappointing his return has been. I was happy he had a nice goodbye scene with Laura, as I would have blown my top if he left without saying so long to his mother! Sadly, it feels like there is no hope left for Lucky and Elizabeth moving forward. Poor Elizabeth, will she ever be lucky in love again? Hell, will she get a decent storyline for once?
Finally, Maxie butted into Brook Lynn and Lulu’s feud, something I’ve been waiting to see. While Lulu is her friend, Maxie made it clear she was wrong in what she did and had to own up to it so that everyone could move forward. Predictably, Lulu shot that down and told Brook Lynn that she wasn’t sorry about what she did to her and never would be. Lulu is only sorry for the hurt she caused Gio.
Is Lulu trying to take the title of Port Charles’ most hated from Drew at this point? And if he’s not careful, Dante will end up runner-up for that award with the way he’s been acting. Yes, he’s hurt, feels betrayed and is angry. However, to tell Chase that he should have manned up and forced Brook Lynn to tell him the truth? Dude, you haven’t been single all that long, but you will be forever if you keep this attitude up! Good for Chase for telling his partner, “I don’t give my wife orders!”
What can I say about Kristina’s plan to have Cody seduce Ava and lead Ric to go after Elizabeth, just to break up Ava and Ric’s blackmail alliance? Alexis said it best: Has Kristina learned nothing? We, the viewers, need a break from Kristina’s antics.
One of the highlights of the week was Martin’s surprise return. Not only that, but he’s ready to get his revenge on Tracy. That’s not going to happen, though. The writing is on the wall that this animosity between these two will eventually lead to a hot kiss. Plus, Martin has already put the idea in her head that he could be the solution to her Drew problems.

Why does Isaiah feel the need to butt into Portia’s personal life and problems? Unless that was a chem test of sorts. I can’t be the only one thinking Portia could end up with Isaiah, and Curtis and Jordan will get back together, can I? Right now, this show seems to be on a mission to break up every couple it can.
As with Kristina, what can I say about Natalia’s apparent exile to Belize at the hands of Sonny, thanks to her DUI and Turner wanting Natalia to turn evidence over on Port Charles’ longest-lasting criminal? Enjoy the rainforest and Mayan ruins, Natalia!
Finally, big news broke this week! Erika Slezak is joining General Hospital! It’s only a short-term role, and details haven’t been disclosed, but a while back, fans were calling for her to be cast as Monica. On one hand, I can’t see them recasting Monica given Leslie Charleson’s death. On the other hand, it could be a way to close out Monica’s storyline properly. I pondered the idea that she could be another one of Martin’s ex-wives he just tangled with, but given Frank Valentini’s penchant for bringing not just actors but also characters over from previous ABC soaps, she could show up in Port Charles as Viki Lord!
That’s it for my thoughts and opinions this week. I’m sure I’ve left something out. It’s been a week, and it is Friday the 13th! So head to those comments to let me know your thoughts! Also, who do you think, or want, Slezak to play when she hits the soap?
