'General Hospital' Recap July 23: Rocco and Liesl Reconnect & Willow Learns Drew's Treachery (and Doesn't Care!)

General Hospital recaps for Wednesday, July 23 reveal Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) catches up with family, while Jason Morgan (Steve Burton)  catches up with Carly Spencer (Laura Wright).

Also,  Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) checks in  on Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) while Lucas Jones (Van Hansis) frees Marco Rios (Adrian Anchondo).

Liesl Obrecht Catches Up With Family

Obrecht, Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson), and James West (Gary James Fuller) are throwing axes at the Throwing Club. She shows James a few techniques while Spinelli sends a text to Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins Bruening) inviting her over.

Obrecht mentions to Spinelli that she has been away for too long. They talk about how James resembles Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) and then Oma wonders why no one informed her about Willow Tait’s (Katelyn MacMullen) out-of-control behavior.

James keeps throwing axes and gets encouragement from Oma, while Spinelli urges her to be more lenient with Willow. Obrecht is worried that Willow is spiraling, but she believes there is some darkness within her.

Jarly’s Chat

At the Metro Court pool, Jason informs Carly that Rocco Falconeri (Finn Carr) mentioning Britt Westbourne’s (Kelly Thiebaud) name made him think he spotted her at the airport in Paris.

Carly thinks he confused someone with a similar look for Britt, as she states, “I hate to say it. It’s unfortunate, but she’s gone”. But, Jason reminds her that he was also in that situation.

He recounts the birth certificate incident and how Rocco found out that Britt took the embryo and had it implanted in her; Carly doesn’t criticize since she saved Joss’ life.

Jason ponders if she might not be dead. Nearby, Rocco is embarrassed that his mother is watching over him at work.'General Hospital' Recap July 23: Rocco and Liesl Reconnect & Willow Learns Drew's Treachery (and Doesn't Care!)

Dante Falconeri’s Worry

At PCPD, General Hospital recaps for the July 23 show notes that Dante interrupts ADA Justine Turner (Nazneen Contractor) and Sonny.

She steps away to speak with Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) while Sonny tells his son that discussing the Marco situation might not be a good idea.

Dante reminds his father that the kids look up to him. Meanwhile, outside, Turner inquires if Sidwell believes foul play was involved in his son’s fate.

Sidwell admits he has no evidence; he is seeking assurance about his son’s safety. Turner confronts Sonny, and Dante listens in as Sidwell expresses his fear that his son has been kidnapped by someone who is blackmailing him.

Lucas Jones Saves Marco Rios

Meanwhile, Lucas arrives at the location on the note he received and uses the key to enter, discovering Marco tied to a chair and unconscious.

Marco wakes up and frees himself from his restraints. They share a prolonged kiss, and later, Marco goes to the PCPD to explain things before things escalate further between his father and Sonny.

Marco doesn’t tell Lucas the whole story about what happened to him, deciding not to stir the pot.

Nina Reeves Vs. Drew Cain

Across town, Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) approaches Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) to inform him that Sasha Corbin (Sofia Mattsson) has left Port Charles with Daisy Gilmore (Evelyn and Brenden Beimford).

Drew believes this is due to Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson) trying to control her, but Nina insists that it was Sasha’s choice because someone was threatening their baby.

She updates him on the strange events surrounding the baby and holds Drew responsible for everything.  Drew refutes this claim, stating he would never harm children to retrieve Willow’s kids.

He suspects it might be connected to Sonny, but Nina is unsure.

Portia Robinson Outs Drew Cain

In Portia Robinson’s (Brook Kerr) office, Willow believes Portia is trying to turn her against Drew, but she notes it won’t succeed.

Portia insists it’s true. He wants her to alter Michael’s blood test to make it appear as if he’s an addict so he can take the man’s children. If that doesn’t concern her, Portia is unsure who Willow really is.

She understands how hard Michael has fought, and now, Drew wants her to ruin everything; Willow responds, “If that’s what it takes, I’m with Drew.”

Portia attempts to reason with her, but Willow reminds Portia that he used the legal system to take her kids away; she doesn’t want her personal issues mixed with work.

Portia Runs To Nina

Portia again points out that her fiancé is blackmailing her, and her words fall on deaf ears. Willow counters that Michael is doing the same to her, so she doesn’t care; again stating her belief and trust in Drew.

If whatever Drew is doing will help her get her kids back, then so be it, and Willow then leaves, oblivious to the obvious problems.

Later, Nina rushes into Portia’s office where she discovers that Drew is blackmailing her to portray Michael as a drug addict. Nina is shocked to learn that Willow is not concerned at all.

Marco’s Made Up Story

Back at the PCPD, Marco interrupts ADA Turner, Sonny, and Jenz, assuring them he’s okay. Father and son hug, and Marco spins a big tale about getting lost in the woods while trying not to think about his mother.

He claims he had no cell service, fell into a ravine, and when he finally returned to his car, he discovered a flat tire. He decided to take a break and ended up falling asleep until just recently.

Turner informs him that he needs to sign a statement, and he agrees to do so before leaving. Sidwell follows him out, and Sonny tells Turner he’s relieved it’s all resolved.

ADA Turner Continues Questioning

Turner pieces together the events from the fire at Charlie’s and the subsequent kidnapping retaliation, but Sonny sticks to Marco’s version.

Turner concludes that he’s as corrupt as she suspected, but Sonny counters that if he were, Marco would be dead. Turner acknowledges that both she and Sonny bore fault for Natalia Ramirez’s (Eva LaRue) death.

Sonny and Turner get semi-flirtatious as Sonny teases her about questioning him because she missed him. She ignores the comment and goes on her way.

Lucas Updates Carly

Lucas hurries to the pool to inform Carly that she owes him and he’s ready to collect. Carly allows Lucas into Marco’s room upstairs as he explains that he discovered Marco beaten and tied to a chair.

Carly is relieved he’s safe; Lucas mentions that if he hadn’t been, he would have ensured Jason and Sonny were locked up for life. Carly believes he’s being unrealistic, which angers Lucas.

In fact, he warns her not to defend Sonny and Jason to him before she walks away. Marco comes in and heads to the shower before Lucas expresses how concerned he was about him, and Marco kisses him all the way to the bed.

Damian Spinelli Discusses Wedding Plans

Spinelli visits Drew to inform him that all the invitations have been sent out, and that he and Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) wish Drew well.

When Willow arrives, they decide to invite Liesl to the wedding. They are eager for Maxie to return home soon, and Spinelli says goodbye before Willow grows impatient for the wedding.

As she contemplates where to seat Liesl, possibly next to Nina, Drew wonders whether Willow was playing around with Daisy. He inquires about her activities on July 4th while he was in DC, and she replies that she had a drink with her mother.

Rocco Falconeri’s Questions

Rocco informs Jason that Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) is more complex than he realized, and  reveals that he reached out to Obrecht and they had a meeting.

Based on what she said, he believes Britt may not be entirely bad. Of course, then Obrecht appears and stares at Jason, greeting  the two men and asks Rocco for assistance in finding a chaise.

Elsewhere, Lulu arrives at the Throwing Club and discovers that Liesl is back. “Why?” Lulu asks. Spinelli explains that she is worried about Willow, but Lulu fears that Liesl is there to see Rocco.

She quickly calls Dante to meet her at the club. When Dante arrives, he finds Lulu throwing axes, and she informs him that Obrecht is present; they  agree that they must speak to Rocco about her right away.

Lante Freak Out Seeing Rocco With Obrecht

Finally, GH recaps for Wednesday’s show reveal that back at the pool, Carly goes Jason and sees Liesl there, noting, “That can’t be a coincidence.”

The two talk about Britt’s death, and Jason realizes he needs to speak with Liesl. Nearby, Liesl shares stories with Rocco about her time as a captive on Cassadine Island, mentioning how Britt shot her with a fishing gun.

They take a selfie just as his parents arrive, and the boy is taken away while Lulu tells Liesl she’s leaving and to keep her distance from her son.

Liesl expresses regret, hoping they could get along, noting that Rocco wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for Britta. Liesl leaves, and Rocco scolds his parents for getting involved.

Be sure to catch up on everything happening with GH right now.
