General Hospital Return Hints at a Welcome Rematch — Plus, the Bombshell Reveal That’s Set to Blow One Relationship to Smithereens

Willow Drew Sasha Lucky GH ABC

What an explosive week for General Hospital! First, thanks to Charlie Mason for filling in for me at the last minute last week. (He promises not to say another bad word about Jason. Ever.) While the Gio drama continued, the real action was in the courtroom between Michael, Willow and Sasha. And as on screen Lucky and Liz fell apart, off screen viewers were fuming to learn that Jonathan Jackson would be leaving again! Let’s pretend we are enjoying some drinks at the Metro Court pool as we dive into what went down in Port Charles.

No Order in the Court!

It’s rare to see Diane bested in court, and it takes a slimeball like Ric to do so. There is no denying that Molly’s dad hit Diane and Michael with blow after blow. Diane fought back as best as she could… until Sasha finally revealed that Michael was her babydaddy, and Ric’s questioning sent her into early labor.

GH Sasha gives birth with michael's help

Michael and Sasha’s reliance on Willow to help deliver baby Daisy felt like a real turning point. For a second, with Drew nowhere to be found, it was as if there was a way out for her, and she, Michael and Sasha could be on friendly terms again. That feeling continued at the hospital, after Sonny suggested to his son that a wise man knows when to compromise, and Michael invited Willow to join him and their kids in meeting the new baby.

Michael and Ameila GH

That’s when Friday’s cliffhanger dropped, and Drew showed up very surprised to see the former family together and all smiles. Even though he was fresh off of Nina suggesting that he push Willow to work things out with Michael for the children’s sake, we all know Drew will do the exact opposite. Tracy said it best in court: Drew wants everything Michael has! General Hospital spoilers have the court case continuing next week, so this has to be when the truth comes out about Willow visiting Michael in Germany, and Drew’s paying off the nurse to lie to her that Michael didn’t want to see her… right? Someone has to bring that up eventually.

Nina visits Sasha GH

I was unhappy with Nina for giving Ric the ammo to use against Sasha and Michael, because it was another instance of Nina shooting herself in the foot. Fortunately, Sasha was too happy just having given birth to a healthy daughter, and tired from doing so, to be angry or hold grudges against Nina. She told Nina exactly what needed to be said. Willow will continue to make bad choices as long as Drew is in her life. When will Nina sacrifice her happiness to save Willow from Drew by revealing her affair with Congressman Cutthroat? That, along with Drew’s Germany secret, are the only things that will likely wake Willow up to the monster that Drew has become.

Unlucky In Love Again

Lucky went from confessing to Elizabeth about his covering for Kristina to proposing to her the next day and saying they could finally have the life they’d dreamed of since their teens. Talk about giving viewers whiplash, along with poor Elizabeth! After she told Lucky she couldn’t marry him and that their lives were on two different paths to what they considered a fulfillment, he was ready to buy a one-way ticket out of Port Charles and left viewers crying, “Not again!”

Liz and Lucky dance GH

Fans were rightly upset, wondering what the point of bringing Lucky back was. It’s been less than a year since he returned, and it felt like there was never really a plan in place for the character. From the botched Sidwell’s diamond storyline to Lucky not being a match to save Lulu, thereby costing us Sam, to Lucky covering for Hurricane Kristina, his storyline has been a mess since his first day back. His exit feels equally messy, as if he couldn’t be rid of Port Charles fast enough.

Lucky and Liz are dunzo

Lulu Doesn’t Get a Pass

It was nice to see Gio get some answers and understand that neither Dante, Brook Lynn nor Sonny knew the truth about him. When Brook Lynn tried to convince Gio not to leave the Quartermaine mansion, and he refused, my heart broke for her. While Gio is still a kid on many levels and is rightfully angry, I hope he changes this line of thinking that he wasn’t wanted. Perhaps after talking to Lucas or others in Port Charles who were adopted, he’ll begin to realize he wasn’t thrown away, which is how he’s reacting right now.

BLQ is still upset with Lulu GH

Brook Lynn’s confrontation with Lulu was a great scene. Lulu thinking she was done with Brook Lynn and her lies, and was no longer involved in the situation, was laughable. Oh, Lulu, you’ve stepped in it big time, and you can try, but you have scraped nothing off the bottom of your shoes yet! Good on Brook Lynn for telling Lulu, “You don’t get to blow up my life and walk away unscathed!”

However, Brook Lynn needs to walk away from the fighting with Lulu and concentrate on Gio. There are plenty of people, including Dante, who can deal with Lulu for the time being. I look forward to Tracy having words with her stepdaughter about Gio soon!

Final Storyline Ponderings

So Dalton’s secret project is cold fusion and a new type of energy — at least that is what he says. That sounds incredibly boring for a soap, especially one that’s already had two weather-machine storylines. There must be a lot more there. And how exactly does this involve animal testing? Emma and Dalton’s relationship also comes off as creepy, as she appears to be trying to trap Dalton using her charm and looks.

Salton andf Emma chat GH

So Natalia got herself arrested for drunk driving, landed in jail, and now ADA Turner is using her as a way to take down Sonny. How many times have we been here and seen that? An overzealous ADA trying to take down Sonny, that is. Then there is Marco, who appears to be suspecting that maybe his dad isn’t the great guy he’s always thought he was. We just played this storyline out with Kristina and Sonny not that long ago. This entire dysfunctional family just isn’t working.

Molly and COdy at Pool GH

Finally, Cody and Molly connecting at the Metro Court pool, and him reminiscing about coming to town three years ago and knocking Britt into the pool, was a perfectly timed conversation, given that the news broke today that Kelly Thiebaud is returning to General Hospital. But as Britt… or someone else? Either way, Molly could seen have competition for Cody’s attention? Or maybe the show is going to re-pair Thiebaud with Steve Burton, whose Jason has been back for over a year with no love interest in sight.
