Gina Kirschenheiter is quite used to being celebrated on Mother's Day as a mom of three kids with her ex-husband, Matt Kirschenheiter. But, The Real Housewives of Orange County cast member had her best Mother's Day this year, due to one very special reason — she got to spend it with her mom for the first time in a decade.
Gina took to Instagram on Sunday, May 11, where she revealed that she was not celebrating Mother's Day with her children, but with her mom, Susan Archer, whom she was able to surprise on the special day. The Long Island native took to her Instagram feed, where she posted a video documenting her about to surprise her mom, whom she had not spent Mother's Day with in a very long time.
"I'm on my way to surprise my mama," Gina explained in the video. "I'm in New York, and I haven't been with my mom on Mother's Day in 10 years, and she has no idea that I'm coming."
Gina ended up surprising her mom at Mother's Day brunch, and she was very happy to see her daughter. "Oh my God," Susan said when she saw Gina, before she started crying while embracing her.
Gina Kirschenheiter reveals why living in Orange County is "complicated"
Gine then took to the caption of the post, where she revealed why living and working in Orange County isn't easy. Especially because it keeps her away from her parents and her family on such special occasions, like Mother's Day. "Moving across the country is complicated," she wrote about living in California. "I haven't gotten to hug my mom on Mother's Day in 10 years, and today I did. I love you, Mom. Thank you for everything you are that's made me who I am. I'll never forget today."
While Gina was spending time in New York with her mom, she got support from her friends, who left the sweetest comments on her post. "Love this," Shannon Storms Beador wrote.
"The sweetest ever," Heather Dubrow added.
"Omg how sweet, this made me cry," Tamra Judge noted.
Gina Kirschenheiter gives an update on her co-parenting relationship with Matt Kirschenheiter
One thing that isn't complicated? Gina's co-parenting relationship with her ex, while she remains in a relationship with her boyfriend, Travis Mullen, who has three kids from a previous marriage. In an October 2024 interview with The Daily Dish, Gina opened up about how all of them are able to blend their families.
"We have it all figured out," she declared. "I couldn't be happier and more proud of my co-parenting situation. We're just parents, you know what I mean? Like we're parents to our children. I'm a parent. Travis is a parent. Matt's a parent. [Matt's wife] Britt's a parent. It's not even co-parenting. It's just parenting. Our four kids have parents. We're their family. They're safe and happy with any of their four parents and that's just our life."
