Gizelle Bryant Shares the Latest Update on the Status of Her Father's Will

Gizelle Bryant has not yet given up on the fight for her dad's will, nearly two years after he passed away from brain cancer. After The Real Housewives of Potomac cast member's father, Curtis Graves, died in July 2023, there were issues with his will (more on that down below), which was covered on RHOP Season 9.

RHOP' star Gizelle Bryant announces the death of her father

The Bravo's Love Hotel Season 1 cast member appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Sunday, April 27, where she gave the latest update on the status of the will. During her conversation with host Andy Cohen, she revealed that things are likely ending soon, "in June," she admitted.

"I'll be in Atlanta, in court," she shared.

What happened with Gizelle Bryant's father's will?

Gizelle explained to her three daughters what happened to her dad's will during RHOP Season 9, Episode 10. "It's complicated, OK?" Gizelle said during the episode. "So he had a will that we think somebody threw in the trash can the last week he was alive."

Gizelle continued in a confessional, noting that her dad was not in the mindset at the time to get rid of his will, that included how the estate would work for her and her two other siblings. "For whatever reason, two days after his brain surgery, somebody around him had a will signed, supposedly by him," she shared. "And I was with him actually. And he was not able to sign anything, read anything — none of that."

Why Gizelle Bryant decided to contest her dad's will

Gizelle then took the new will to court, explaining to her daughters that she was trying to get it thrown out for the sake of their family. "And if it's thrown out, that means he died without a will, and that means that in the state of Georgia, his children get two-thirds of his estate," she explained. "But in the will that's fraudulent, we get nothing. And it's as if you guys don't exist, either. It's all very painful because I don't want to go through this. I know that he didn't want me to have to go through this."

"My dad stood on making sure that generational wealth is passed," Gizelle admitted during a confessional in the RHOP  episode. "Nothing was left to me and nothing was left to my children, my father's grandchildren, which were probably more important to him than me."

How Gizelle's legal battle with her dad's will has impacted her view of marriage

During the Season 9 episode, Gizelle admitted to her daughters that this battle over her dad's will has made her reconsider ever getting married again. Gizelle had been married to her ex-husband and the father of her three daughters, Jamal Bryant, from 2002 to 2009. After getting back together in 2019, they split for good in 2021, before Jamal remarried this past November.

"It made me think a lot," Gizelle told her daughters. "And if I were to get married to somebody, and God forbid the same thing happened, for these reasons, I don't legally want to be attached to anybody."
