Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Ilya Samsonov won't accompany the team on their upcoming two-game road trip.
Samsonov has been dealing with soreness since Saturday and is still dealing with the ailment according to HC Bruce Cassidy. In the team's media conference after practice today, Cassidy mentioned that Samsonov won't travel with the team but he doesn't believe it's a long-term injury.
Akira Schmid was called up from the Henderson Silver Knights in response to the Samsonov news and he'll back-up Adin Hill for the next two games.
The Golden Knights play just twice until Monday. Tomorrow against the Edmonton Oilers and on Friday against the Seattle Kraken before returning home to take on the Carolina Hurricanes.
Fatigue shouldn't be an issue for Hill considering they haven't played since Nov. 2 and have a day off between their two games. The Golden Knights are first in the Pacific Division based on points percentage but have yet to win a game on the road.
The Golden Knights are looking to change their fortune on the road and with two Pacific Division rivals on tap, there's no better time than now to do so.
