Golden Knights looking to not to ‘chase’ game

The Vegas Golden Knights continue their longest road trip of the season on Saturday in Montreal for a game against the Montreal Canadiens.

The important thing for the Golden Knights will be if they can get to their game early. When the team has been successful, it finds its rhythm sooner than later.

“Let’s not chase the game. Doesn’t mean we’re always going to score first. Let’s get to our game in a hurry,” Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy said. “We did that against Ottawa. Even parts against Toronto. It’s trending the right way that way. It’s reflected in our late road record. We’re not waiting to see what’s happening. That’s something we’re looking to do tonight.”

Alex Pietrangelo remains out of the lineup with an upper-body injury he sustained against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

“Petro is unavailable. We have him day to day, doing better today,” Cassidy siad. “That’s good. I don’t know if he’ll rejoin us.”

Meanwhile, Nicolas Hague’s return is coming closer. He’s a game-time decision for the game against the Canadiens. If he can’t go for any reason, it will be Robert Hagg in the lineup.

“If [Hague’s] good to go after warmups, he’s in,” Cassidy said.

About the Canadiens

The Canadiens have been off since a 3-0 victory against the Edmonton Oilers on Monday.

Montreal coach Martin St-Louis said it will important for his team to come out and match Vegas’s intensity early.

“For me, today, it’s about how fast we can get into game mode, you know? Because [Vegas] is three in four. They’re in game mode. So, for us, our start is really important tonight,” he said to the Montreal website.

Former Golden Knights prospect Nick Suzuki leads the Canadiens with 19 points (seven goals, 12 assists).
