Golden Knights sign Keegan Kolesar to three-year extension

The Vegas Golden Knights have agreed to terms on a three-year extension with right winger Keegan Kolesar, reports Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli. The new contract will carry a $2.5-million annual average value.

Skating in his sixth season with the Golden Knights, Kolesar has made 29 appearances in 2024-25, picking up seven goals and four assists for 11 points. In all, his seven tallies sit just one short of his career high of eight goals, set in both 2022-23 and 2023-24.

What Is Keegan Kolesar's Role On The Golden Knights Heading Forward?

Acquired from the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2017 offseason, Kolesar made his NHL debut with the Golden Knights in 2019-20 and became a full-time skater the following season. In 2021-22, he notched a career high of 24 points counting seven goals and 17 assists coming in 77 games, and the following year helped the Golden Knights claim the franchise’s first Stanley Cup, putting up two goals and three assists in 22 appearances en route to the championship.

The 27-year-old Brandon, Man., native is a graduate of the WHL’s Seattle Thunderbirds, whose time in the junior circuit is underscored by an Ed Chynoweth Cup title in 2017. En route to the victory, Kolesar paced the Thunderbirds with 31 points in 19 games.

In all, Kolesar’s time with the Thunderbirds totaled 243 regular-season appearances over five seasons in which he amassed 77 goals and 90 assists for 167 points. Kolesar was selected by the Blue Jackets in the third round of the 2015 NHL Draft.

Prior to signing an extension Friday, Kolesar was set to become an unrestricted free agent in July. Per PuckPedia, his current pact carries a $1.4-million annual average value.

Standing 19-7-3 on the season, the Golden Knights sit atop the Pacific Division with 41 points. The club is riding a four-game win streak and will look to claim its fifth-straight victory Saturday versus the Edmonton Oilers.
