'He's Out. He Took That Shot. He's Going To Miss Some Time.' Avalanche Forward Ross Colton Injured After Taking A Shot To The Skate In Loss To Blackhawks

Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar gives update on leading goal scorer Ross Colton after blocking a shot in last nights game against the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Colorado Avalanche avoided yet another key player from missing an extended period of time when Ross Colton took a stick to the hand in the Avs' 5-1 win over the Utah Hockey Club. Colton left the game in the 2nd period and did not return, but luckily played in the teams next game three days later against the Ottawa Senators.

Last night however, the Avalanches' leading goal scorer in Ross Colton with 8 goals, was injured again when he took a shot of his foot in the 2nd period during an Avalanche power play. Colton did not play in the 3rd period and was seen leaving Ball Arena in a walking boot. Unfortunately this time around the Avalanche won't be seemingly as lucky with Colton, as Jared Bednar confirmed that Colton will miss some time as a result of taking the shot to his foot.

The Avalanche who had their 5 game win steak snapped last night after being defeated by the Chicago Blackhawks by a score of 5-2, will now have to make do without Colton in the lineup for what seems to be at least for the next little while.

The Avalanche are already without captain Gabriel Landeskog, Valeri Nichushkin, Jonathan Drouin and Artturi Lehkonen. The loss of Colton will further test the teams depth, an area that the Avalanche were already thin.

With Nichushkin not eligible for re-instatement until November 13th and the timeline for Lehkonen and Landeskog still unknown and Drouin still not ready to return, the Avalanche will likely recall a forward from the Colorado Eagles prior to their next game against the Tampa Bay Lightning tomorrow.

Two candidates could be T.J. Tynan or Jayson Megna. Both Tynan and Megna have 4 points for the Eagles this season.
