Incredible Video Highlights Ellie's Transformation Across The Last of Us Series

The Last of Us video shows Ellie's dramatic transformation

A promotional video for The Last of Us: Remastered resurfaced to show Ellie's dramatic transformation throughout the course of the first two games. The Last of Us made its debut on June 14, 2013, and has been treated to many remasters, remakes, and sequels. Originally released for the PlayStation 3, the title was quick to jump into the PlayStation 4 era with The Last of Us: Remastered on July 29, 2014, and then completely remade and sold again in 2022, while the sequel was remastered and rereleased in 2024.

The Last of Us is a post-apocalyptic third-person action game where much of the world has been lost to the infected. The remaining uninfected people generally live in small communities or quarantine zones for safety. The story begins with the journey of Joel, a grizzled smuggler, and Ellie, a girl who is immune to infection. The two main characters must reach a hospital where doctors believe they can create a cure from Ellie's blood. The sequel begins with Joel and Ellie's strained relationship and a shocking twist that sends Ellie down a dark road. Over the years, developer Naughty Dog has earned a reputation for creating more grounded story-heavy games like The Last of Us Part 2, shifting away from its more lighthearted prior work.

Redditor 1DarkStarryNight brought new attention to a trailer made for The Last of Us: Remastered. The video features a close-up shot of Ellie's face. The camera slowly spins as a time-lapse shows her transition from a young teen to a grizzled survivor over the course of the two games. All of this is dramatized by captivating music and Ellie's famous quotes that show a shift in her character that is as emotional as it is physical.

The Last of Us Part 3 Could Feature a Similar Trailer for Ellie or Abby

Fans who had never seen the video were shocked and delighted to see what Naughty Dog had created. While there's no telling what the future holds, it would be interesting to see a similar video if Ellie remains the focus of The Last of Us Part 3.

This video of Ellie has resurfaced at a time when fans are eager to hear anything about The Last of Us Part 3. Many players have been wondering if the game will include a time-jump similar to the one in The Last of Us Part 2. Such a move could change the game's environments, characters, and the status of the infected. No matter what Naughty Dog has in store for the series, it looks like fans will have to wait a little longer to see or hear anything about The Last of Us Part 3.
