Judge Judy Sheindlin and her husband, Jerry Sheindlin, are selling their duplex penthouse in New York City for $9.5 million.
“We’ve enjoyed this jewel of an apartment,” Brooklyn native Judy, who has an estimated net worth of $480 million, told the New York Times in May. “Time to simplify.”
The home is located in the affluent Sutton Place neighborhood of Manhattan and features a wraparound terrace with a panoramic view of the East River.
Judy, 81, and Jerry, 90, bought the four-bedroom, four-bathroom residence at the top of a 93-unit building in 2013 for $8.5 million.
Monthly maintenance costs $10,130, according to the listing.
Upon entry, the penthouse boasts a 29-foot gallery leading to a sunlit living room with a wood-burning fireplace.
The apartment also has a formal dining room with floor-to-ceiling French casement doors, a paneled library with a second fireplace and a chef’s kitchen with professional-grade appliances, marble countertops and a wood island.
A wrought iron staircase leads to the lower level, which includes the primary bedroom and its en suite bathroom.
“There’s a modernity to the layout and an openness,” Compass broker Mickey Conlon told the Times. “It’s grand, but not ostentatious in any way.”
The co-op at 14 Sutton Place South offers a full-time doorman, a gym, a bike room and a private storage unit for its residents to use.
The Sheindlins, who used their NYC penthouse as a pied-à-terre, also own sprawling properties in Greenwich, Conn., Naples, Fla., and Newport, RI.
The couple, both of whom have worked as judges in New York and starred in TV court shows, have been married since 1978.
