This con goes much deeper than we thought.
On the July 2nd episode of The Young and the Restless, Chelsea told Adam about running into Cane and his triggering all of her con artist instincts. Chelsea patiently led Adam to draw his own conclusions about Cane acting weirdly. But was that whole conversation a part of a larger con?
What’s In It For You?
We’ve been confused about the Adam (Mark Grossman) and Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) reunion from the start. He was obviously in love with Sally (Courtney Hope), and she… well, had Billy (Jason Thompson) at her beck and call, and Chelsea likes that trait in a man.
Sure, there was their mutual love for Connor (Judah Mackey), but then why work together, too? What was Chelsea thinking? We wondered. Now we finally know!
Two Is More Than One
Cane (Billy Flynn) was born and raised to be a con man. Chelsea was born and raised to be a con woman.
Honestly, these two were meant to be. Why shouldn’t they join forces? Especially to bring down all the good citizens of Genoa City, who love looking down on them? What if they’ve been in cahoots since the start of this Aristotle Dumas mess?
Well Played — and Well Paid
Chelsea made it sound like she just happened to run into Cane. And she rushed right back to Adam to share all of her concerns with him. But what if this was all part of their plan?
Cane has the Newmans and Abbotts sequestered in France, and Chelsea is cleaning up the loose ends in Genoa City — especially with those left behind, like Adam and Victoria (Amelia Heinle). Divide and conquer!
Stage Craft
But, wait, you might say: What about Cane and Chelsea’s conversation? We saw it. Did they look like they were in cahoots?
Well, no. But isn’t that the whole point of cahooting? It was all staged for anyone who might be eavesdropping. To solidify the con. Like they were both raised to do.
