'It's Not a False Alarm': Fire Country's Max Thieriot Talks Season 3 Finale Cliffhanger

After the Season 3 finale of Fire Country shook up the show's story with a major cliffhanger, series star Max Thieriot is warning fans that the ending was not a 'false alarm.' Season 3 finished airing on April 25, 2025, with a two-part final episode.

The end of Fire Country Season 3 saw a deadly blaze hit the care facility where Vince's (Billy Burke) father, Walter (Jeff Fahey), was living. As a result, several characters, including Vince and Sharon (Diane Farr), were at the care facility trying to rescue Walter. The season finale ended with Bode (Thieriot) outside as the burning building collapsed on his family. Thieriot addressed the scene in an interview with TV Insider, saying, "It's not a false alarm."

"There will be some pieces that need to be picked up," the actor explained. "We're motivated to continue pushing the show, pushing the envelope, and trying to sort of allow this world to evolve and come up with new ways to surprise the audience and to bring the audience compelling characters and storytelling." Additionally, Burke and Stephanie Arcila (Gabriela) will not return for Season 4, which means that more changes are on the way for Fire Country fans.

It remains to be seen what will happen to Vince or Gabriela in Fire Country Season 4 to have them written out of the show. Thieriot only revealed that the writers are still working on figuring out where the story is headed. "As far as what is going to happen specifically at this point, I don't know. We're just opening the writers' room, so we haven't gotten that far. I know that everybody's really focused on finding out," he said.

Fire Country Teases 'Devastating Loss' In Season 4

In February 2025, while Season 3 was still airing, CBS renewed the series for a fourth season, and one of the show's writers recently teased that there would be 'devastating loss for everyone' in store. Tia Napolitano, who wrote the Season 3 finale, also revealed that none of the actors knew about the loss ahead of shooting the finale. "That's a reality, there’s danger in this sort of job, so we wanted to honor that and really up the stakes," Napolitano shared.

Fire Country premiered in 2022 from Jerry Bruckheimer Television and CBS Studios. Thieriot stars as a young convict hoping to redeem himself and shorten his prison sentence by volunteering for the California Conservation Camp Program, assisting Cal Fire. A spin-off with Morena Baccarin attached to lead is currently in the works.
