‘It Was Just Raw Emotion’: 'Days of Our Lives' Vet, '51', Reflects On Touching Tribute TRANGHO

As Days of Our Lives begins to play out the end of John Black’s storyline following the tragic death of actor Drake Hogestyn, one of the many returning stars to the Peacock streaming drama is Christie Clark, who reprises her role as John's daughter Carrie. Clark now reflects on returning to the soap opera, her time on set, and whether she’d consider coming back.

Clark joined the soap in 1986 as a young Carrie Brady, daughter of Roman Brady (Wayne Northrop) and Anna Dimera (Leann Hunley). John Black (Hogestyn) was presumed to be Roman Brady from 1986-1991. In ’91 it was revealed that the ‘REAL’ Roman, portrayed by Northorp, was actually alive. Black then became romantically involved with Carrie’s step-mother Marlena (Deidre Hall), and stayed a present father figure in Carrie’s life throughout the years. Clark portrayed the role of Carrie off and on from 1986-2021.

With John’s exit story being crafted, Clark received an offer to return to the series to help honor the relationship shared between John and Carrie on screen. Clark spoke to TV Insider about returning, sharing “I knew what was happening with Drake, and I knew he wasn’t well enough to come and work, so that was sad. I knew I had to come back, because it was for him, because he was my mentor, and really was the main principal actor I worked with and grew up with, and gave me everything. And, my God, he was just a man of unbelievable beauty inside and out. So, I was just gutted that it was happening to him — the most fit, loving, gorgeous man who appreciated life. It was just heartbreaking.”
