Cold Water – itv announce a new thriller series for Andrew Lincoln

Famous faces could be spotted on the streets of Glasgow this week as filming of a new ITV thriller takes place in the east end.

Andrew Lincoln, who played Rick Grimes in hit zombie apocalypse series The Walking Dead, joins Ewen Bremner, best known as Spud in Trainspotting, in six-part thriller Cold Water.

Filming for the series will take place on the streets of Dennistoun on July 10 and 11.

The ITV program sees Lincoln star as John, a repressed stay-at-home dad who moves to the fictional Scots village of Coldwater from London after a playground bust-up. The character befriends next-door neighbour Tommy (Bremner) who is described as a pillar of the community.

The two quickly form a strong bond which annoys John's wife Fiona ( played by Indira Varma), who is a chef that hopes to start a new life in the village and leave the past behind. However, Fiona quickly becomes suspicious of Tommy who is not all he seems to be, with him harbouring 'horrifying secrets'.

The show was written by award-winning playwright David Ireland and is being produced by SISTER, who previously worked on Eric, This Is Going To Hurt and Chernobyl.

Polly Hill, ITV Head of Drama said: “We are very excited for ITV to be the home for this brilliant new thriller exploring masculinity, religion and ultimately murder. David’s scripts are wonderful, and original and have attracted an incredible cast led by Andrew Lincoln. It promises to be a really unmissable drama and I am delighted to be working with Jane Featherstone again and her brilliant team at Sister.”
