Jalen Hurts reveals reason for skipping Eagles' White House Super Bowl celebration

The Philadelphia Eagles received a formal invitation from President Donald Trump to visit the White House after their 40-22 Super Bowl victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.

Eagles' team owner Jeffrey Lurie left it up to individual players to decide whether to attend. Quarterback Jalen Hurts was among those who chose not to go.

“I wasn’t available. I don’t think that’s pertinent. Everyone who went, and was available, they seemed to enjoy themselves," Hurts said this week.

Hurts' offseason has been busy. The Super Bowl MVP quarterback officially married his college sweetheart, attended the Met Gala, and was named to Time Magazine's 2025 TIME100 list.

The Eagles' QB1 and Super Bowl LIX MVP is extremely lowkey and doesn't discuss politics, but he did hang out with former President Barack Obama on a golf course earlier this year.

Hurts wasn't alone in skipping the big event. C.J. Gardner-Johnson, A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Brandon Graham, Nolan Smith, Zack Baun, Nakobe Dean, and Darius Slay Jr. also skipped out on the White House invite for various reasons.

Given that the Eagles’ Super Bowl-winning roster has remained largely intact this offseason, there’s a good chance Hurts could be facing another trip to the White House next year.
