Yikes! Jana Kramer seemingly doesn’t have the fondest memories of her time on Dancing With The Stars.
“I hated Dancing With The Stars because that was a big insecurity because I don’t know how to dance,” Kramer, 41, confessed on the Wednesday, March 26, episode of her “Unmask and Unwhine” podcast.
Kramer was speaking on her Masked Singer companion podcast with Candace Cameron Bure about the differences between Fox’s hit reality show and DWTS.
“With [The Masked Singer], it’s like, you have a mask on, go have fun,” Kramer declared, before clarifying: “I shouldn’t say I hated Dancing with the Stars. It was just a big insecurity. It was my least favorite of the shows.”
The former One Tree Hill actress and Bure have both competed on the two reality shows. Kramer and professional dancer Gleb Savchenko finished in fourth place on DWTS in 2016, before being unmasked as Royal Knight on The Masked Singer last year.
Bure was revealed to be the Cherry Blossom on The Masked Singer this week — after finishing in third place on DWTS with pro partner Mark Ballas in 2014.
During their interview on “Unmask and Unwhine,” Bure, 48, echoed Kramer’s feelings about the two shows, saying, “[I feel the same] in that I was insecure with Dancing With The Stars but loved that journey so much.”
“I’m always telling everyone, ‘Go on Dancing With The Stars, it’s amazing,’” she added.
The former Full House star admitted that the only downside from her time on The Masked Singer was being eliminated so early.
“I was disappointed to be the first one out in my group,” she said. “However, before we went out and we were waiting for results, my husband [Valeri Bure] was with me and I was just like, my nerves [and] my cortisol levels were like 100. They were like off the chart.”
“I was going, ‘I hope I’m the first one off because I don’t want to do this again. I’m so scared to sing in front of people,’” she remembered. “But then, of course, when they called my name, I was like, ‘What? Come on! This isn’t fair!’”
Kramer said she felt similar to Bure during her own last Masked Singer episode, recalling that she told husband Allan Russell backstage that she was “ready to go home.”
“We were about to go get married,” she clarified. “I was like, ‘I’m ready to go home. I did a couple of shows. Cool. I want to go.’ Then, when they say you’re done, I, like, got a little teary-eyed because I don’t want to go. I don’t like losing!”
Kramer has plenty of competition show experience, having made her debut on CMT’s short-lived country music series Can You Duet in 2008. She later went on to huge success with acting roles in One Tree Hill and Friday Night Lights before stepping into the DWTS ballroom in 2016.
