Boston Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman has reflected on and arbitration hearing with the team and all the bad things that were said about him at the time
Time to add more fuel to the already blazing fire that is the contract standoff between goaltender Jeremy Swayman and the Boston Bruins. Swayman and the Bruins are still looking to 'bridge the gap' on a new deal before the deadline of Dec. 1, with things getting messy after Boston President Cam Neely gave a blunt answer to a question on the negotiations by saying Swayman had 64 million reasons to play. However, a newly released documentary gives some insight into Swayman's mindset in this dispute.
While bring featured on Amazon's 'Faceoff' Docuseries, Jeremy Swayman said he has a list of all the criticisms that were levelled at him by Boston Bruins management when they went through an arbitration hearing before the beginning of last season. Swayman said it's tough hearing you aren't worthy of what you're asking for, and said the biggest knock against him from the Bruins was that he isn't trustworthy in the postseason.
While NHL hockey is most certainly a business, it's never easy to hear your boss tell someone else all the reasons why you don't deserve a raise. Especially if some of those criticisms are questionable. Despite that, Swayman can be heard in the docuseries saying that he wants to remain with the team and will do whatever it takes to make that happen.
Jeremy Swayman's agent is denying the Boston Bruins ever offered his client $64 million on a new deal. Lewis Gross added he and Swayman are extremely disappointed with Cam Neely and his decision to discuss things publicly. There are now rumours that Swayman may request a trade out of Boston.
