Jets' Aaron Glenn Shouts Out Dan Campbell, Draws Lions Parallels at Press Conference

Aaron Glenn của Jets hét lên Dan Campbell, so sánh Lions với Lions tại buổi họp báo

The New York Jets introduced new head coach Aaron Glenn, the former Detroit Lions defensive coordinator, on Monday as owner Woody Johnson and his staff attempted to turn the page on a harshly disappointing 2024 season.

The Jets fired defensive minded former head coach Robert Saleh during the season before choosing another defensive minded coach, this time with strong ties to the franchise, in their former star defensive back Glenn.

Glenn, who helped lead the Lions to the NFC's best regular season record last season, drew parallels between the Jets' potential and Detroit's meteoric rise to first place last season in Motown.

"Dan Campbell, outstanding man," Glenn said. "Going to Detroit with Dan, we were at the very bottom. But you know what we did? We took it up to the top," Glenn said.

"So here's the one thing in my last nine years I was able to do. Is be able to take a team to the top, and reach the pinnacle, and then also be able to sustain that. And that's what we're going to bring here to this team."

The Jets finished third in the NFL in total defense last season allowing just under 314 yards per game.

Offense-wise, the Aaron Rodgers led team finished near the bottom of the NFL with just over 310 yards per game.

If Glenn is to spearhead a 2025 turnaround for last season's 5-12 Jets, evoking the emotion and spirit of a Lions franchise that captured the hearts and minds of millions of Lions and NFL fans appears to be a good place to start.
