Jets sign Mason Shaw and Haydn Fleury to one-year, two-way contracts |  YardbarkerAs TSN’s Darren Dreger reported, the Winnipeg Jets have signed forward Mason Shaw and defenseman Haydn Fleury to one-year, two-way contracts. Both players will earn a salary of $775,000 at the NHL level.

Shaw spent the 2023-24 season with the Minnesota Wild where he registered one goal and three points in 20 games while racking up 34 penalty minutes. Shaw also spent time with the Wilds’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate the Iowa Wild where he tallied four goals and seven points in nine games.

Shaw suffered an ACL tear in April 2023, during a game against the Vegas Golden Knights which limited him to playing time this season.

Drafted 97th overall by the Wild in 2017, Shaw has had four ACL tears in his career. The Lloydminster, Alberta native was an NHL rookie last year, registering seven goals, 17 points and 79 penalty minutes in 59 games.

In 197 AHL games, Shaw has 43 goals and 78 assists for 121 points and 213 penalty minutes over seven seasons. Before turning pro, Shaw spent three years in the WHL with the Medicine Hat Tigers before an injury knocked him out of his final campaign. Shaw had 96 points in 2016-17, the best total of his career.

Meanwhile, Fleury spent the 2023-24 season with the Tampa Bay Lightning where he tallied five points in 24 games. The Carlyle, Saskatchewan native has appeared in 268 games over parts of seven seasons with the Carolina Hurricanes, Anaheim Ducks and Bolts.

The Hurricanes initially selected Fleury with the No. 7 pick in the 2014 NHL Draft. Fleury was a decorated WHL defenseman with the Red Deer Rebels and was named to the CHL Memorial Cup All-Star Team in 2015-16.
