Jett Luchanko Set to Make Flyers History

The Philadelphia Flyers announced their opening-night roster today (Oct. 7). Among the players who made the team is 2024 first-round pick Jett Luchanko.

Luchanko stood out during the Flyers' pre-season, and head coach John Tortorella has now rewarded him. His goal from here will be to start his NHL career on the right foot. If he performs well out of the gate, it would significantly help his chances of maintaining his NHL spot past his nine-game window.

With Luchanko making the opening-night roster, he is set to make Flyers history. According to NHL insider Frank Seravalli, Luchanko will be the youngest Flyers player to appear in a game with the club at 18 years and 51 days old.

This is such a cool fact, and it is something that Luchanko should be proud of. Not too many prospects make the jump to the NHL at 18 years old, but the London, Ontario native has earned this opportunity with his hard work.

It will be fascinating to see how Luchanko's NHL debut against the Vancouver Canucks goes from here.
