John Tortorella Completely Loses His Mind When Referees Cancel Penalty After It Was Called

During last night's Flyers-Wings game, a penalty was initially called on Detroit before it was canceled, and John Tortorella completely lost his mind on the bench.

The Philadelphia Flyers left for Detroit to take on the Red Wings in a game that once again had tongues wagging for two moments in particular.

First was a perfectly placed goal from Owen Tippett, who's slowly but surely becoming a star among the young in the NHL.

With not too much fanfare, Owen Tippett has gradually emerged as one of the more skilled and consistent performers. He is a joy to watch and will continue to be so for the hockey fans for quite a while.

The second was decidedly more controversial. With less than eight minutes remaining and the Flyers trailing by a goal, a referee's arm suddenly shot into the air to indicate a penalty call.

It was supposed to be that golden chance, the power play that would have tied the game. But incredibly, the referee took it back, an almost unheard-of occurrence in the NHL.

Understandably, Flyers head coach John Tortorella was furious on the bench. He had every reason to be following that call that deprived his side of that very important chance to turn things around.

As it was, the game restarted minus the power play, and eventually, the Flyers fell to the Red Wings by a score of 6-4.

Adding insult to injury, Matvei Michkov was held off the scoresheet for the third consecutive contest. That highlight-reel goal remains the bright spot in what was otherwise a contentious evening for Tippett even with the loss.
