Speculation still remains about 66-year-old John Tortorella eventually getting a front-office role, despite the fact that nobody in the organization ever suggested so.

Nevertheless, Tortorella himself does not appear to have any plans of departing the sidelines anytime soon.

Just two weeks ago, when the proposition was put forward that he might not be remaining behind the bench come next season, his last one under a four-year contract, he gave no indication that he was considering a different option.

Indeed, if anything, he seemed utterly committed to his current role. That commitment has been reiterated only this week.

Flyers head coach John Tortorella reaffirmed he doesn't anticipate ending his coaching career anytime soon, via Kevin Kurz of The Athletic. While he's entering the final year of his contract in 2025-26, he called speculation that he'd shift to a front-office role for the Flyers 'noise' and that it 'never influences how I go about my business and never will.' The 66-year-old two-time Jack Adams winner has a 96-102-32 record behind the Philly bench and is set to miss the postseason for the third year in a row.

With a broken roster on his plate, Tortorella may need to be more measured in the manner in which he approaches things as the year runs out on April 17.

He is aware of the challenge but how much he is able to temper his typical intensity as losses accrue remains to be seen.

One thing is certain, major decisions loom ahead, and with how things have gone for the Flyers the last two years, Tortorella's voice will be one to hear when deciding what's next.
