After finishing the 2024 NFL season with a 14-3 record and the AFC's No. 2 seed, Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills failed to get it done in the AFC Championship Game once again, falling to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Despite another early exit, the former Wyoming quarterback was still able to earn his first MVP award for his play. Playing in all 17 games, Allen tallied 3,731 passing yards, 28 passing touchdowns and six interceptions while adding another 531 yards and 12 scores on the ground.
On Tuesday, it was revealed that the Bills have extended one of Allen's favorite targets of the past three seasons as wide receiver Khalil Shakir has signed a four-year contract extension worth up to $60.2 million.
Bills general manager Brandon Beane had high praise for his breakout wide receiver after news broke on Tuesday.
"You'd be hard-pressed to find anyone in our building to say anything negative about Khalil and what he's brought," Beane said. "The guy is a true lunch pail Buffalonian. I mean, I know he's not from Buffalo but he doesn't say anything, he just shows up everyday. He's Mr. Dependable, and when the ball comes his way he usually comes down with it."
Even Allen, who saw Shakir become his favorite target in 2024, reacted to the news by sharing the Bills' announcement on his Instagram Story.
"HERE TO STAY‼️" the Bills captioned their post. "Khalil Shakir has agreed to terms on a four-year contract extension through 2029."
Shakir finished his third season with Buffalo with career-highs in nearly every category, tallying 76 catches for 821 yards and four touchdowns. He was able to have his breakout season after Stefon Diggs departed for the Houston Texans in the offseason.\
