Making history without stepping on the football field is pretty cool for a first-time head coach. For Kellen Moore and the New Orleans Saints, they can create some notable history within their organization with one decision.
That choice would have to come in round one of the 2025 NFL Draft. Moore's first rookie class could be headlined by a brand new leader on offense for the foreseeable future.
Saints may take a round one QB
The Saints have not picked a quarterback in round one since 1971. That pick was Archie Manning. Now, that possibility seems nearly likely because of the unknown future of veteran QB Derek Carr due to his latest injury issue.
New Orleans is currently the favorite to draft Shedeur Sanders. The Colorado QB and son of Deion Sanders has been on their radar, and the recent news regarding Derek Carr's unclear future may push Moore's hand.
Derek Carr may be out for the season with a shoulder injury. The New Orleans Saints should Draft Shedeur Sanders. Give him Chris Olave, Brandin Cooks, Shaheed, Kamara, an improved O-Line and a veteran defense that is ready to win. The Saints need a spark. Shedeur is that spark. -- Robert Griffin III
Jaxson Dart is seemingly the other option for the Saints in round one at quarterback. They're done their due diligence on Dart, with Kellen Moore and staff members at his Pro Day. Moore also had dinner with Dart, among other Ole Miss prospects.
Regardless, selecting a new QB for the Saints would be a huge step towards a bit of a reset in New Orleans. They've not had a rookie QB at the helm for quite some time. Whoever it is, will also need some upgrades around him on the offensive unit.
All in all, New Orleans has an extremely important draft as this month comes to a close. They simply cannot afford to make too many mistakes with the rookies they select. Their future truly depends on it.
