“Teen Mom” personality Kailyn Lowry is sharing an update about co-parenting her eldest son, Isaac, 15, with her ex-boyfriend, Jo Rivera.
While speaking to People magazine, Lowry said she and Rivera, who is married to Vee Rivera, have an interesting dynamic as they have not been in a romantic relationship since they were teenagers.
“I think that the unique situation that Jo and I are in is that we were together as teenagers. I don’t want to speak for him, but I would guess that he probably feels the same way, in that we’re so far removed from that. It doesn’t feel like he’s my ex. It’s like I’m co-parenting with somebody I just know,” said Lowry during the interview.
She also shared that she and Rivera have fewer arguments now that their son is older.
“Now that Isaac’s 15, we don’t have a whole lot to fight about at this point. We really only communicate if we absolutely have to because I think that, for the most part, we’ve gotten through most of the hard stuff. And that’s not to say there won’t be more stuff coming in the future, with him graduating high school in the next couple years and cars and all of that,” said Lowry to the publication.
Kailyn Lowry Spoke About Her Dynamic With Jo Rivera on Her Podcast
Lowry said she and Rivera do not communicate in an April 2024 episode of her podcast, “Coffee Convos.”
“Jo and I don’t communicate. Like, we have no communication whatsoever. We don’t talk,” said Lowry while recording her podcast episode.
Lowry also said she was “not upset by” the lack of communication. She said, however, that she was not sure why she and Rivera stopped speaking to each other.
During an August 2024 Us Weekly interview, Lowry said that she and Rivera have experienced “the ebbs and flows of co-parenting.”
“For a little while it was a little weird, just because the older the child gets, the dynamic of co-parenting shifts, so we don’t need to co-parent everyday,” said Lowry during the interview.
Kailyn Lowry Spoke Positively About Her Eldest Son
During the Us Weekly interview, Lowry spoke positively about Isaac. Lowry said her eldest son’s behavior is quite different than how she acted at his age.
“I’m so proud of him. Because the things I was doing at his age, versus the things that he is doing at his age are night and day. He truly is a better human than I could ever been at that age. He’s fantastic,” said Lowry to Us Weekly.
Lowry has six other children. She and her ex-husband, Javi Marroquin have a son called Lincoln. In addition, she and her ex-boyfriend, Chris Lopez, have two sons, Lux and Creed. Lowry and her fiance, Elijah Scott, have three children, Rio, Verse, and Valley.
