Kailyn Lowry Makes ‘Teen Mom’ Return, Reveals She Is ‘Done’ Having Kids After Giving Birth to Twins
Kailyn Lowry returned to Teen Mom after leaving the franchise in 2022, and she opened up about how her family is finally complete now that she’s a mom of seven.
“I never would have pictured myself being here,” Kailyn, 33, said to her former costar Maci Bookout, referencing having seven children in a sneak peek of the Thursday, March 27, episode of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter shared by Us Weekly. “I’m done now. I got my tubes taken out. They cut them out.”
She continued, “It was rough, especially the last one being twins. I’d probably have triplets the next time and I didn’t get a girl without the boy, which is so funny.”
Maci, 33, also opened up about her current relationship with her ex Ryan Edwards when Kailyn asked about it. She admitted that things between her and Ryan, 36, had improved after he made the decision to get sober. The two share 16-year-old son Bentley, and Maci said that before Ryan got sober, the two “didn’t coparent at all.”
“I coparented with his parents. I feel like we’re just now building a coparenting relationship,” Maci explained in the clip, while adding that she was no longer “resentful” of Ryan.
“I have learned and believe and understand that I cannot make up for what Ryan has done and it’s not my responsibility. I cannot do that. Only Ryan can do that,” she continued.
Fans first met Kailyn when she appeared on 16 and Pregnant in 2010. During her time on the show, viewers watched her welcome her first son, Isaac, 14, with her high school boyfriend, Jo Rivera.
After 16 and Pregnant, Kailyn starred in Teen Mom 2, alongside Maci, and she gave birth to her son Lincoln, 11, with her ex-boyfriend Javi Marroquin. Kailyn also has sons Lux, 7, and Creed, 4, with her ex Chris Lopez. Once she made the decision to exit the Teen Mom franchise, Kailyn added her son Rio, 2, and twins Verse and Valley, who were born in October 2023, with her current fiancé, Elijah Scott.

Kailyn later opened up about her decision to leave the franchise, and explained that a lot of it had to do with not wanting to put her relationship with Elijah under the spotlight because they had just started dating.
“Yeah, I left in 2022 when I got pregnant with my fifth son,” she said during an October 2024 appearance on the “Just Trish” podcast. “Because I was like, ‘I can’t, we’re not doing this.’ We did not plan to get pregnant. It was the first time I slept with him. And we had just developed a relationship.”
Even though Kailyn stepped away from the cameras at MTV, she still gives fans a glimpse into her life with her podcast, “Coffee Convo,” and she and her cohost, Lindsie Chrisley, talk about everything from recommendations for other moms to how they manage their busy lives.
The success of the podcast also played a role in her decision to exit the franchise.
“Elijah had not been on TV. My podcast became super successful. I was making more money on the podcast than I was on Teen Mom,” Kailyn continued, adding that she “couldn’t justify the stress” the show caused. “I felt like I would give them this laundry list of things that I wanted to film, but they only wanted to talk about the relationships that I had with my kids’ dads. That’s old and tired, right? I have other drama, I can give you drama, I’ll do whatever you want, but let’s talk about it.”
