Her popularity with fans led ABC to cast her as the next Bachelorette. She left the season engaged to Blake Moynes. But they broke up after less than a year. She began dating another contestant from her season, John Hersey. But they didn’t date long.
After failing to find love on two different shows with the Bachelor Nation franchise, Katie decided to try another network. She joined Season 3 of CW’s FBoy Island. While she chose Vince Xu, their relationship ended quickly.
The next time she started dating someone, she kept it to herself for a 90-day timeline. After three months of dating in secret, she finally revealed her mystery man’s identity: comedian Jeff Arcuri. They got engaged in Hawaii last summer.
But then she was diagnosed with cancer and they didn’t want to wait to get married. They eloped in March. The former Bachelorette star has shared a lot about her cancer battle. She opened up her Instagram DMs to chat with fans recently.
One fan wanted to know how to get over a failed engagement. Katie Thurston knows a lot about that subject. If she used to feel embarrassed about her past relationships, she doesn’t anymore.
She called failed engagements “another lesson on life.” Katie added, “We only have one life, so all you can do is find the right person to share it with.”
She said that despite our best intentions, failed relationships mean there was “something missing” in the relationship. “Keep on loving yourself to find the right person deserving of you,” she advised.
Katie Thurston Can’t Wait Until Husband Can Kiss Her Pregnant Belly
Katie Thurston definitely thinks she finally found the right person for her. Her now-husband postponed his comedy tour earlier this year to help her navigate the initial cancer diagnosis. He went on the tour but is now back home, just in time for her next big doctor appointment.
The Bachelorette star goes back to the doctor next month to find out if the cancer treatment she’s on is working. Her cancer battle started off with an incorrect diagnosis of an aggressive breast cancer that required chemotherapy.
She was a day away from starting chemo when her new doctors in New York disagreed with the initial diagnosis. She has Stage 4, but the breast cancer isn’t as aggressive as previously thought. So instead of chemo, she’s on oral medication.
But before the correct diagnosis was discovered, she began the process of IVF in case she wanted to have children with her husband. In a recent Boobie Broadcast, Katie Thurston envisioned a future for herself where she’s cancer-free and able to carry a child. “A world where I’m not fatigued. A world where Jeff gets to kiss my pregnant belly,” she wrote about her ideal future.
Katie Thurston is determined to will that future into existence.
