Last week, Kim Zolciak’s mansion finally went up for public auction. However, that didn’t spell the end of her financial troubles. Things just got a little worse for the Real Housewives of Atlanta alum.
We’ve known for a while that Kim was facing money troubles. Kroy Biermann claimed that she was misspending the little money she had, blowing it all on gambling, booze, and designer items. According to a new report, that spending is going to come to a halt because she’s set to have her wages garnished. Allegedly.
Kim Zolciak’s money problems worsen
According to a report from In Touch, Kim’s dire financial situation is getting ready to take another turn. Allegedly, American Express sued Kim over a six-figure credit card debt in 2018.
If you think about it, life was much different for Kim in 2018. Her relationship with Kroy was going strong and their show, Don’t Be Tardy, was still on the air. Regardless, she didn’t meet the required payments for the credit card.
Court documents show that American Express requested a default judgment against Kim in 2019. They won, and they were awarded $215,822. Five years later, Kim has supposedly failed to pay any money towards that judgment.
Now, American Express has looped in Truist Bank, the company that held Kim’s mortgage. They believe that Kim has assets in the bank that could be used to cover the credit card debt. They sent a summons asking the bank to identify Kim’s accounts and “hold all money, including wages, and other property, except what is known to be exempt, including property in safe-deposit boxes or similar property.”
Of course, this isn’t the first time that Kim has been hit with a lawsuit over an unpaid credit card. Last year, Bank of America sued her for a $50,000 debt. She racked up thousands on a Target card that went unpaid. There’s a pattern here, and American Express doesn’t want to be a part of it.
The latest court documents explained that Truist Bank has 15 days to respond to the card company, so the clock is ticking. Let’s hope Kim stashed some money under a mattress somewhere. She’s going to need it.
