The Free Agent Frenzy is just one day away and Vladislav Gavrikov is on pace to hit the open market with rumors linking him to the New York Rangers continuing to heat up.
There’s one last push being made by the Los Angeles Kings though to sign Gavrikov to a contract extension.
According to TSN’s Pierre Lebrun, The Kings are waiting to hear back from Gavrikov’s camp led by agent Pat Brisson regarding their last offer and both sides are expected to chat again today, either way, with the clock ticking.
Kings general manager Ken Holland addressed Gavrikov’s future in Los Angeles and confirmed that multiple offers have already been sent to the veteran defenseman.
“Rob Blake had made an offer, and I went beyond that offer,” Holland said last week. “And so now we are continuing to talk, and I think I made another offer, so we’ll see.”
The Rangers have been heavily linked to having an interest in Gavrikov if he hits the open market on Tuesday.
It’s been speculated that outside of the Kings, the Rangers are the clear favorites to land Gavrikov in free agency.
A contract for the 29-year-old defenseman will likely come in at seven years at almost eight million per season.
As it stands right now, the Rangers have still not signed Will Cuylle and K’Andre Miller to contract extensions, two players who will become restricted free agents on July 1 if they remain unsigned.
