In his first season with the Atlanta Falcons, quarterback Kirk COusins struggled, completing 303-of-453 passes for 3,508 yards, 18 touchdowns, 16 interceptions (which led the NFL), and an 88.6 passer rating.
To make matters worse, he started only 14 games after being replaced by rookie Michael Penix Jr., who Atlanta had selected with the No. 8 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Rumors now suggest that the Falcons are looking to trade Cousins, who's set to enter the second season of a four-year $180 million deal.
John Kosko of Pro Football Focus lists him as the best option for the Las Vegas Raiders amid their own quarterback struggles.
"With Pete Carroll returning to the NFL as head coach and Chip Kelly running the offense, the Raiders will want to establish both success and a clear offensive identity as quickly as possible," he wrote. "Carroll’s philosophy has always centered around a strong run game and effective play-action passing, making Kirk Cousins an ideal fit for the system."
If Cousins could return to his previous form that has helped him make four Pro Bowls, he could become the spark that helps improve the Raiders' offense, which in 2024 was tied for 28th in points per game (18.2) and 26th in total years per game (303.2).
He's also someone the Raiders could afford to take on as they enter 2025 with the second most cap space at $95.3 million, per Spotrac.
However, even if the two teams decide on fair compensation, Cousins himself would need to approve it, too, as his contract includes a no-trade clause.
