Vanderpump Rules alum Lala Kent decided to take her little family and escape from the fire zone in Los Angeles. The former Bravo star shared her reasons for departing the city with followers on social media.

Lala Kent relocates to Palm Springs

On January 9, Lala shared that poor air quality from the multiple LA fires was affecting her 4-month-old daughter’s ability to breathe.

“This morning Sosa woke up and was really struggling to breathe,” she wrote on her Instagram Stories. “I made the decision to pack my family up and come to Palm Springs, strictly based on the air quality. This is where we will stay until LA is safe again.”

Lala shares a three-year-old daughter, Ocean, with her ex-fiancé film producer Randall Emmett. Sosa was born on September 3, 2024, via sperm donor.

Since the fires began on January 7, dry vegetation and winds up to 100 mph (courtesy of Santa Ana) have pushed the relentless flames through some of LA’s most high-end neighborhoods. Many of the communities bordering the coast and the western side of the valley have gone up in smoke, including Pacific Palisades, Malibu, and the area northeast of Pasadena.

Lala described the wildfires as being “one of the most devastating situations I have ever seen.”

The Associated Press has labeled the Palisades Fire the “most destructive in Los Angeles city history, with an estimated 1,000 structures destroyed.” Multiple stars called Pacific Palisades home, including Tom Hanks, James Woods, and Billy Crystal.

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills newbie Bozoma Saint John also lost her Malibu home to the fire. Paris Hilton’s Malibu home was also “reduced to ashes.”

Thousands of homes have been destroyed

According to the Associated Press, the Palisades Fire has now been classified as the most destructive in the history of Los Angeles County.

Sadly, there’s no end in sight as the National Weather Service’s Weather Prediction Center predicted yesterday that “critical fire weather conditions” were expected to “ramp up again across Southern California.” Due to dry and windy conditions, the “potential exists for ongoing fires to worsen and new ignitions to rapidly spread.”

“At this point, if you were not directly affected,” Lala wrote, “you know someone who has lost everything. I’m obsessing over how we could be so underprepared. My heart is shattered for my community.”

“Neighborhoods that people have called home for decades, are now nonexistent. It is unimaginable,” she added. “In times like this all you want is to go home for comfort, and 1,000s of people don’t have their safe place anymore.”

“I’m sad, but I’m angry,” the VPR alum concluded. “I’ll save that rant for a later date.”
