Marshon Lattimore trade leaves just one piece all by himself from generational Saints draft class

The New Orleans Saints made one of the biggest moves during the 2024 NFL trade deadline. On Tuesday morning, they traded star cornerback Marshon Lattimore to the Washington Commanders.

Lattimore was a piece of one of the greatest draft classes in NFL history. For my money, I would say it is absolutely the best. Check out the 2017 draft class below.

Saints' 2017 draft class

  • Marshon Lattimore (traded to WAS)
  • Ryan Ramczyk (IR, expected to retire after season)
  • Marcus Williams (left in FA)
  • Alvin Kamara
  • Alex Anzalone (left in FA)
  • Trey Hendrickson (left in FA)
  • Al-Quadin Muhammad (left in FA)

As you can see, New Orleans did not re-sign a handful of them.

That being said, all of them, outside of Muhammad, played very good football for the Saints. Pro Bowlers galore!

As for guys like Anzalone and Hendrickson, they have hit their ceiling elsewhere.

Anzalone is the top linebacker for Dan Campbell's Detroit Lions, and Hendrickson leads the NFL in sacks this season for the Cincinnati Bengals. The latter has been among the best pass rushers in football over the past three years.

Alvin Kamara

The star running back is the lone player from the class that remains in New Orleans following the Lattimore deal. He plans to retire as a Saint, and he just signed a two-year extension in October to help ensure that occurs.
