Massive Contract Issue Arrises For The Chicago Bears (Report)

The Chicago Bears are more optimistic about the upcoming season than they have been of any season of recent memory.  Caleb Williams, Rome Odunze, DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, and more have given the Bears a ton of reason to be optimistic going into 2024.

However, there is one major issue that is coming to light regarding one of their Super Stars.

DJ Moore still has two years remaining on his contract, so Chicago does not have to be in any rush to pay him. However, Fishbain notes that he is currently 17th among receivers in average annual salary.

Considering that Moore just hauled in 96 receptions for 1,364 yards and eight touchdowns, that seems awfully low.

Moore is slated to earn $15.6 million in base salary in 2024 and $14.9 million the following year (he also has a $1 million roster bonus for 2025).

The 27-year-old has not griped about his deal just yet, but don’t be surprised if his contract becomes a topic of discussion relatively soon.

DJ Moore may just be happy to be on a contending team

Moore entered the NFL as a first-round draft pick of the Carolina Panthers back in 2018. Since then, he has never been on a team that had a winning season.

He spent the first five years of his career with the Panthers, who topped out at seven wins throughout his tenure. He was traded to the Bears last offseason, and once again went 7-10 in his debut campaign in the Windy City.

The good news for Moore is that Chicago appears to be building something.

The Bears went 7-6 over their last 13 games last season, and over the last several months, they have had a plethora of key pieces that could push them into contention in 2024.

Chicago not only traded for fellow wide out Keenan Allen and signed playmakers like running back D’Andre Swift and tight end Gerald Everett in free agency, but it also selected quarterback Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick of the NFL Draft. It then chose receiver Rome Odunze at No. 9.

The Bears are loaded with weapons offensively and could end up being one of the most difficult teams to defend in 2024 depending on how Williams adjusts to life in the pros.

Taking all of that into consideration, DJ Moore may just be thrilled that he finally has an opportunity to win and may remain mute on his contract. For now.

It will be interesting to see how the Bears start shelling out money to their stars.
